The Terrace is moving on leaps and bounds thank God. David and I yesterday spent the afternoon traipsing around Avenida Alberdi – The ceramic and plumbing capital of Buenos Aires – in search of the new tiles to adorn Casa Deadman. After this whole debacle we are going to be throwing open the doors of Abode for one almighty Parrilla (BBQ) in celebration of the ending of the dust and the mess and as an official opening of the terraza. All of you are invited obviously – just bring a bottle of something Red!
On to more positive things. After turning up roughly 5 hours late for a friends Parrilla yesterday afternoon thus missing all available morsels, we wandered home with starvation on the mind. Thankfully we happened to walk past Tandoori. One of the few Indian Restaurants in town. Sitting outside in a slightly perky 9 degrees Celcius (we had Syri our little dog with us) the waiter clearly thought we were mentalists, but after a little coercion and convincing that we wouldn’t steal the cutlery, he agreed that it wouldn’t do any harm to let us actually eat. The Chef/Owner is from the Subcontinent via England and as such the food is perfect to suppress any cravings for a good Chicken Tikka Masala – it even has some spice would you believe it. Spice is definitely something that is yet to successfully hit the Argentine palette but restaurants such as Tandoori and some of the other Asian options such as Green Bamboo and Sudestada in Palermo Hollywood are doing their bit to change that.
So feeling suitably stuffed we meandered are way home through the back streets of Palermo enjoying the vibrancy, smells and telenovela style antics of Porteños on a random Wednesday night.
It´s a pleasure to read all this, and now I am craving for Chiken Tikka Masala at Tandoori! I am glad to hear everything is coming along at Casa Deadman! Surely a lot of effort, but well worth it!
